Probiotische Evidenz ist stamm-spezifisch. Was für LGG gilt, gilt nicht automatisch für alles andere, das denselben Artennamen trägt.
Wofür es untersucht wurde
Einer der am häufigsten getesteten Stämme, mit meta-analytischer Unterstützung zur Verkürzung akuter infektiöser Diarrhö bei Kindern. [1]
Die Evidenz für Stimmung oder "Darm-Hirn"-Endpunkte ist weit schwächer als für Diarrhö.
Warum der Stammcode wichtig ist
Probiotische Effekte sind stamm-spezifisch, und das ist keine technische Einzelheit. Zwei Stämme derselben Art können sich darin unterscheiden, welche Oberflächenproteine sie exprimieren, ob sie die Magensäure überstehen, ob sie überhaupt an den Darmschleim haften und was sie dort produzieren. Eine Studie, die einen Nutzen für LGG nachweist, zeigt diesen nur für LGG — nicht für die Art.
Die praktische Konsequenz ist, dass ein Etikett, das nur einen Artnamen angibt, nicht verifiziert werden kann. Wenn die vollständige Bezeichnung fehlt, kann keine veröffentlichte Evidenz dem, was in der Kapsel ist, zugeordnet werden.
