Kaks sama liigi tüve võivad erineda selles, milliseid pinna valke nad ekspresseerivad, kas nad ellu jäävad maohappes, kas nad kinnituvad soole limaskestale ja mida nad seal olles toodavad. Uuring, mis näitab kasu B. infantis 35624 puhul, näitab seda just B. infantis 35624 puhul — mitte liigi kohta.
